The sixth generation Mitsubishi Colt compact model debuted for the first time at the 2002 Tokyo Motor Show. True, it was a version for the domestic market. The European version of the "Foal" (this is how "Colt" is translated from English) was presented to the public at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2004.

The "sixth" Mitsubishi Colt looks like a simple family microvan, and all because of the sloping hood, which together with the wings forms a single line with the front struts, a sheer rear end and vertical rear struts. In general, the car has a friendly appearance, which is made in the corporate style of the Japanese company used at that time.

In the front of the "Colt" you can contemplate neat head optics, in shape reminiscent of the lighting equipment of the "ninth" Lancer, a narrow false radiator grille with a compact brand emblem, as well as a front bumper, most of which is occupied by air intakes. All this gives the "face" friendliness and completely deprives him of aggression.

In profile, the Mitsubishi Colt is perceived as a real compact family car, the distinctive features of which can be called a short sloping hood, smoothly turning into a strongly inclined windshield, as well as a roofline sloping towards the stern. Short overhangs visually add compactness to the Foal.

The rear of the car is distinguished by a rectangular luggage door, a small and neat bumper, as well as lamps stretching from the roof and almost to the bumper.

Growth "sixth" Mitsubishi Colt came out average - 1550 mm, which is slightly more than most B-hatchbacks. But the length and width clearly fit into the concept of this class - 3870 and 1695 mm, respectively. The size of the wheelbase of the "Japanese" is 2500 mm, and the ground clearance is 169 mm.

The interior of the "Colt", with all its external simplicity, is well cut and made of sufficiently high quality materials. The three-spoke steering wheel is recognizable from many other cars of the brand, and behind it is a dashboard with three "wells".

Everything looks nice, and the readings are read without difficulty. The center console does not shine with design chips - everything is simple and functional. This is a monochrome display of the on-board computer, control units for the "music" and ventilation system.

With external compactness, the sixth generation Mitsubishi Colt has a fairly spacious interior. The front seats are endowed with a wide range of adjustments, so they can comfortably accommodate even tall riders.

The rear sofa is designed for three passengers, but only two can comfortably accommodate. The second row of seats slides back and forth on a sled so that the legroom can be adjusted to suit your needs.

The luggage compartment in normal position reaches 300 liters. The rear seat can be moved, folded in a ratio of 60:40 or completely dismantled, obtaining a useful volume of 1200 liters.

Specifications. Three gasoline engines were installed on the "sixth" Mitsubishi Colt.
The first is a 1.1-liter three-cylinder unit producing 75 "horses" and 100 Nm of peak thrust at 3500 rpm. It is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox. With such a modest performance, such a car cannot be called a slow-moving - 13.4 seconds from 0 to 100 km / h and 165 km / h top speed. Fuel consumption - 5.5 liters in the combined cycle.

The second is a 1.3-liter "four", generating 95 forces and 125 Nm. She works with both "mechanics" and 6-speed "robot". Depending on the gearbox, acceleration to a hundred takes 11.1-12 seconds, and gasoline consumption varies from 5.6 to 5.8 liters per 100 km. The maximum speed is unchanged - 180 km / h.

The third is a four-cylinder 1.5-liter "atmospheric" with a capacity of 109 horsepower, which develops 145 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm. It is combined with the same transmissions as the previous unit. The second hundred such "Colt" exchanges in 10.5-10.8 seconds, and its capabilities are limited to 190 km / h. With the "mechanics" the car spends 6.2 liters of fuel per 100 km in mixed mode, and with the "robot" - 0.3 liters less.

McPherson struts in front and semi-independent suspension on linked arms with a torsion beam at the rear - this design is used on the sixth generation Mitsubishi Colt. The steering is equipped with an electric booster, and disc brakes are applied on all wheels.

Equipment and prices. Currently (2014) you can buy a "second-hand foal" on the Russian market at an average price of 250,000 - 300,000 rubles. At the same time, the basic version already includes air conditioning, ABS, a pair of airbags, front power windows, "music" and heated front seats.
