He is, first of all, "imprisoned" for the driver, although he tries to disguise himself as a "family man" (six-door body and a full-fledged five-seater salon) ...

The second generation of "Clubman" was presented to a wide audience in the fall of 2015 at the stands of the Frankfurt Motor Show, but its conceptual version made its debut back in March 2014 at the bride in Geneva. As a result of reincarnation, the car has improved in all directions: it has grown in size, has become noticeably more practical, "perched" on a new platform, received an ergonomic (but recognizable) interior and "armed" with modern equipment.

Externally, the "second" MINI Clubman looks catchy, elegant and recognizable, especially from the front - the "face" of the station wagon flaunts the naive eyes-headlights and a large "hexagonal" radiator grille. From the side, the car attracts attention with a long and low silhouette with excellent proportions, a roof “hanging” in the air and large wheel arches, and from the rear it “flaunts” powerful “shoulders” of rear fenders, stylish lanterns and swing doors of the tailgate.

"Clubman" of the second incarnation belongs to the "golf" -class by European standards and has corresponding dimensions: it is 4253 mm long, 1800 mm wide, and 1441 mm high. The distance between the pairs of wheels of the "Briton" fits into 2670 mm, and the ground clearance is 141 mm.

The interior of the Clubman is made in the "family" MINI theme - despite the "cartoonish" leitmotif, it looks beautiful, modern and, most importantly, mature. The upper part of the "plump" center console is allocated to a large "well" with an 8.8-inch screen of the multimedia system (in the "base" - with a simple radio tape recorder), and below are arranged three "washers" of the climate system and toggle switches of auxiliary functions.

The multifunctional steering wheel is good-looking and sporty (which only the developed tides on the rim are worth), and behind it there is a stylish and understandable "toolbox". The quality of finishing materials and their fit are excellent.

The main advantage of the second generation "Clubman" is its inner space. In front, there are quite comfortable chairs with a dense embossed profile and a large set of adjustments. On the second row, there is enough free space for two passengers, while the third will have to put up with a high tunnel on the floor and a shortened sofa cushion.

Behind the rear hinged doors of the car is a properly configured and well-designed trunk with a volume of 360 liters. The back of the "gallery", by default divided in the ratio "60:40" (for an additional charge - "40:20:40"), when folded down creates an almost level platform and brings the capacity of the "hold" to 1250 liters. Specifications. The MINI Clubman of the second incarnation is delivered to Russia in two petrol modifications:

  • In service with the basic version Cooper - a three-cylinder B38 unit with a volume of 1.5 liters with direct injection, one balance shaft, a turbocharger, 12 valves and adjustment of phases at the inlet and outlet, which has 136 "horses" at 4400 rpm and 220 Nm of ultimate thrust at 1250 rpm minute.
  • Execution Cooper S put a 2.0-liter "turbo four" B48 with a block of "winged metal", two-flow Twin Scroll turbocharger, direct "power", throttle-free mixture formation technology and a pair of balance shafts, generating 192 horsepower at 5000 rpm and 280 Nm of generated torque at 1250 rpm.

Both motors work in conjunction with a 6-speed "manual" gearbox and front-wheel drive transmission. As an option, the "junior" version is mated with a 6-band "automatic", and the "senior" - with an 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive with an electro-hydraulic multi-disc clutch in the rear axle drive.

"Clubman" of the second generation spends 7.1-9.1 seconds to conquer the first "hundred" and is able to gain maximum 205-228 km / h. In the combined travel mode, the station wagon "drinks" from 5.3 to 6.3 liters of gasoline, depending on the modification.

At the heart of the cargo-passenger model is the UKL platform, which implies the presence of an independent McPherson suspension in the front and a multi-link system in the rear. An adaptive chassis with adjustable shock absorbers is available as an option. High-strength and ultra-high-strength grades of steel, as well as aluminum, are widely used in the car body.
The Brit boasts a rack-and-pinion steering center that integrates a progressive electric power steering. The front wheels of the station wagon accommodate ventilated brake discs, while the rear wheels are content with the usual "pancakes" (the "staff" has ABS, EBD, BA and other "gadgets").

Options and prices. In Russia, the second "release" MINI Clubman 2017 is offered at a price of 1,349,000 rubles - this is how much they ask for the basic version of "Cooper", which "flaunts" six airbags, "cruise", air conditioning, ABS, ESP, rain sensor, fog headlights, 16-inch wheels, a standard audio system, heated front seats, four power windows and other options.
For a modification with an automatic transmission, Russian MINI dealers ask for a minimum of 1,431,500 rubles, for the performance of "Cooper S" you will have to pay from 1,679,000 rubles, but you cannot buy an all-wheel drive car "ALL4" for less than 1,839,000 rubles.
