The original generation of the C-class Subaru Impreza was first seen in 1993 in sedan and station wagon body versions, and in 1995 a two-door coupe was born, which was produced for a short time. In 1997, the car underwent a slight external "rejuvenation", and a year later, the interior was also updated.

Commodity production of "Japanese" was carried out until 2000, after which its successor began to conquer world markets.

"Impreza" of the first generation is a "player" of the C-community according to the European classification, provided in three body types - sedan, five-door station wagon and two-door coupe.

The length of the car fits into 4350 mm, of which the wheelbase extends by 2520 mm, its height is 1410-1440 mm, and the width and ground clearance do not exceed 1690 mm and 155 mm, respectively.

Specifications. For the Subaru Impreza of the original incarnation, only atmospheric gasoline "fours" with a volume of 1.5-2.5 liters with a horizontally opposed configuration, a distributed fuel supply system and a 16-valve timing belt, producing 90-167 horsepower and 128-225 Nm of torque were provided.
The engines were equipped with 5-speed "manual" or 4-speed automatic transmissions, front-wheel drive transmissions or permanent all-wheel drive with symmetric potential distribution between the axles.

"Impreza" of the first generation has an independent suspension of all wheels: in front are used shock-absorbing struts of the MacPherson type, and at the rear - a four-link architecture (transverse stabilizers are present "in a circle").
The car is equipped with a rack and pinion steering gear with hydraulic power steering. All versions of the "Japanese" are equipped with front ventilated disc brakes, and the rear "pancakes" are available exclusively on the "top" modifications (the rest are drum devices).

The first "release" of the Subaru Impreza boasts a pleasant appearance, high reliability of the design, perfected handling, moderately comfortable and energy-intensive suspension, wide tuning possibilities, sufficiently efficient engines and much more.
But not everything is so rosy - the disadvantages of the car include expensive original spare parts, high gas mileage and a cramped "inner world".
