"Alive" to the general public, Chery Tiggo 5x (this is the name of the crossover in the Celestial Empire, it got to our country as Tiggo 4) first appeared in April 2017 - at the International Shanghai Motor Show, however, then it wore only "pre-production status" ... But the "commercial sample" of this car celebrated its debut at the end of September of the same year, and soon after this event its sales began in the Chinese market (and at the end of spring 2019, only "one hundred" of such five-doors were imported to Russia).
Just a year and a half after its debut, the SUV underwent a small update, which in no way affected the technical component - the car was only slightly tweaked the exterior, "redrawing" the bumpers and taillights and adding an "off-road" image to it, and slightly changed the interior decoration, mainly due to new decor. In this form, the "Chinese" appeared on the Russian market, but with a long delay - only in August 2019.
The exterior of Chery Tiggo 4 is "painted" in the current style of the brand - the off-road vehicle demonstrates an attractive, expressive and original look, in which there are no borrowings. The five-door looks most impressive from the front - an aggressive gaze of complex headlights, a hexagonal radiator grill, an embossed hood and a massive bumper with a protective cover in silver in the lower part.
From the rest of the angles, the crossover has not so distinctive, but far from faceless outlines: an athletic and energetic silhouette with "muscular" wheel arches, a powerful rear roof pillar and a sill line flying upwards and a clear rear with graceful lanterns connected by a chrome "bridge", and neat bumper.
It is a compact SUV measuring 4318 mm long, 1831 mm wide and 1662 mm high. The distance between the pairs of wheels of the car is 2610 mm, and the ground clearance is 190 mm.
When loaded, the five-door weighs from 1376 to 1494 kg (depending on the modification).
The spirit of minimalism hovers inside Chery Tiggo 4, but at the same time its interior looks nice, unusual and fresh. First of all, attention is drawn to the asymmetrical front panel, in the center of which are the intricately shaped ventilation deflectors, a 9-inch multimedia system monitor and a laconic air conditioning unit with three regulators.
The three-spoke multifunction steering wheel and the original "toolkit" with a pair of dials and a 4.8-inch display of the on-board computer between them fit well into the interior decoration.
In addition to this, the car boasts well-thought-out ergonomics, high-quality finishing materials and a solid level of assembly.
"Apartments" Chery Tiggo 4 are designed to accommodate five people, including the driver. At the front, comfortable chairs are used with well-developed lateral support, an optimal cushion length and sufficient adjustment ranges (including height).
The second row greets its inhabitants with a hospitably profiled sofa, an almost flat floor and a decent supply of free space on all fronts.
The trunk of the crossover is small - in the "stowed" state, its volume is 340 liters. The rear row of seats is transformed into two asymmetrical parts, increasing the capacity to 1100 liters, but in this case, a horizontal platform is not obtained. The underground niche at the five-door contains a spare wheel and a set of tools.
In the Russian market, Chery Tiggo 4 is equipped with a single power unit - a four-cylinder gasoline "aspirated" with a working volume of 2.0 liters with an in-line architecture, a distributed "power" system, a 16-valve DOHC timing belt and variable valve timing, producing 122 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 180 Nm of torque at 4000 rpm.
The motor is combined with a non-alternative continuously variable CVT, which directs the entire power reserve to the wheels of the front axle (all-wheel drive for an SUV is not offered even for a surcharge).
How much time it takes for the crossover to conquer the first "hundred" is not officially disclosed, however, it is known that the maximum it gains 174-180 km / h, and in the combined driving mode it "digests" 8-8.2 liters of fuel for every 100 km of track, depending on from modification.
Chery Tiggo 4 is based on a front-wheel drive platform with a transverse power plant and a monocoque body, the structure of which consists of high-strength steel grades.
At the front, the "Chinese" is equipped with an independent MacPherson-type suspension, and at the rear - with a multi-link architecture ("in a circle" - with hydraulic shock absorbers, cylindrical springs and anti-roll bars).
An electric power steering is integrated into the rack and pinion steering gear of the five-door. And all SUV wheels are equipped with disc brakes (in the front - with ventilation), equipped with ABS, EBD and other assistants.
In the Russian market, the restyled Chery Tiggo 4 is offered in three equipment options - "Start", "Comfort" and "Techno" (the first - only with a 5MKPP, and the remaining two - exclusively with a variator).
- For a crossover in the basic configuration, they ask for a minimum of 899,900 rubles, and its functionality includes: two airbags, 17-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning, a light sensor, heated front seats, four power windows, rear parking sensors, an audio system with four columns, steering wheel adjustment two-way, downhill assistance system, ERA-GLONASS technology, ABS, ESP and some other options.
- For the "Comfort" version you will have to pay at least 1,029,900 rubles, and its features are: a multi-steering wheel with leather braid, heated windscreen and washer nozzles, cruise control, a rear-view camera, a media center with a 9-inch screen and a number of others "Lotions".
- "Top" modification will cost from 1,099,900 rubles, and its features include: "leather" interior trim, keyless entry and engine start, heated steering wheel and rear seats, two-color wheels 18 inches, electric driver's seat and rear armrest.
