Mercedes-Benz C-class is a rear- or all-wheel drive premium D-class station wagon by European standards, which boasts a "thoroughbred" design, modern and practical interior, as well as progressive technical and technological "stuffing" ...

The official premiere of the fifth generation cargo-passenger Mercedes-Benz C-class with the in-plant index "S206" took place at the end of February 2021 during an online presentation. After the next "reincarnation" the car became better on all fronts, but at the same time it retained the old (but seriously modernized) MRA "cart".

The exterior of the premium station wagon is made in the same vein as the three-volume "brother" - it looks attractive, modern and dynamic, and the characteristic structure of the stern does not add to its heaviness at all.

The length, width and height of the Mercedes-Benz C-class S206 are 4751 mm, 1820 mm and 1455 mm, respectively. The distance between the front and rear axles at the five-door is 2865 mm, and its ground clearance is 130 mm.

Interior

Inside, the cargo-passenger model completely copies the sedan of the same name - a beautiful, presentable and progressive design, impeccable ergonomics, exclusively premium finishing materials, a high level of performance and a five-seat layout with a sufficient supply of free space on both rows of seats.

In the standard state, the trunk of a mid-size station wagon can hold up to 490 liters of luggage. The second row of seats in the five-door is divided by default into three sections in the ratio "40:20:40" and is folded flush with the floor, as a result of which the capacity of the cargo compartment increases to 1510 liters.

Specifications

In Europe, a wide range of modifications is offered for the Mercedes-Benz C-class, and all of them are equipped with a 48-volt EQ-Boost starter-generator, producing 20 hp. and 200 Nm:

  • Petrol versions are "armed" with in-line "fours" with a working volume of 1.5-2.0 liters with turbocharging, direct injection and variable valve timing, generating 170-258 horsepower and 250-400 Nm of torque.
  • Diesel versions are powered by a four-cylinder 2.0-liter unit with a turbocharger and common rail injection system, which develops 200-265 hp. and 440-550 Nm of peak thrust.

By default, the car relies on a 9-band hydromechanical "automatic" and rear-wheel drive transmission, however, petrol modifications (all but the base one) are available for a surcharge with 4Matic permanent all-wheel drive.

Dynamics, speed and consumption

The cargo-passenger model accelerates from 0 to 100 km / h in 5.8-8.6 seconds, and the limit of its capabilities falls on 231-250 km / h.

Gasoline cars, on average, “digest” 6.5-7.3 liters of fuel for each combined “hundred” of mileage, and diesel cars - 5.1-5.3 liters.

Design features

Structurally, the fifth-generation Mercedes-Benz C-class station wagon does not differ from the sedan of the same name - a modular MRA platform with a longitudinally placed motor at the base, independent front and rear suspensions (double-lever and multi-link, respectively), steering with active electric power steering and disc brakes on all wheels (ventilated at the front).

As an option, the five-door rely on an adaptive suspension with continuously adjustable shock absorbers and a fully steerable chassis (the rear wheels can rotate up to 2.5 degrees).

Options and prices

On the Russian market, the Mercedes-Benz C-class S206 is not officially sold, but, for example, in Germany this premium station wagon in 2021 can be bought at a price of 46,975 euros (≈4.3 million rubles).

As for the equipment, in this regard, the station wagon has no significant differences from the sedan.
