The first generation of the Lexus GX SUV with the index "470", which received the in-house marking "J120", officially debuted in January 2002 at the International Auto Show in Detroit, and went on sale in November. The conveyor car production lasted until 2009, and throughout the entire life cycle it was modernized almost every year - improvements were made to the exterior, the technical part, and the list of equipment.

The "first" Lexus GX470 is a mid-size luxury SUV with a five-door body design and a seven-seater interior arrangement.

The overall dimensions of the "Japanese" are as follows: 4890 mm in length, 1850 mm in height and 1940 mm in width.

The vehicle has a wheelbase of 2850 mm, and the minimum clearance under the bottom is 220 mm. The mass of the "470th" in the stowed state does not exceed 2210 kg.

Specifications. An uncontested gasoline engine was installed on the original GX470 - this is a V-shaped atmospheric "eight" with distributed injection with a working volume of 4.7 liters. Initially, the engine developed 238 horsepower and 434 Nm of maximum torque, but later its output increased to 273 "horses" and 447 Nm.
The SUV was equipped with a 5-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive transmission with a demultiplier and a rigidly locked center differential (by default, the thrust was distributed in a proportion of 53:47 in favor of the front end).

Such indicators allowed the car not only to storm off-road, but also to exchange the first "hundred" in 8.5 seconds, peak acceleration up to 180 km / h. Average gas mileage in city mode is 15.7 liters, on the highway - 13.1 liters.

At the heart of the design of the Lexus GX470 was a spar frame. The car was equipped with air suspension on both axles: in front - an independent multi-link architecture, in the back - a continuous axle. "In a circle" the SUV "flaunted" disc brakes with ABS, EBD and Brake Assist, and a hydraulic power steering was introduced into the rack and pinion steering system.

The “first” Lexus GX is a solid and luxurious SUV that can do a lot on asphalt and rough terrain. The car is distinguished by its rich equipment, a spacious interior with seven seats, a powerful engine and a comfortable suspension.
At the same time, the "Japanese" has a high fuel consumption, and its maintenance will cost the owner a substantial amount.
