The new Fiat Uno has been on sale in Brazil since the end of spring this year, and by autumn 2010 the novelty will be on sale in other South American countries. For Europe and Russia, Fiat plans to produce Fiat Uno already in 2011 at the facilities of the Serbian Zastava plant, which the Italian concern is currently modernizing.

The story of our hero began in 1983, when the creation of the iconic Italian car designer Gioggetto Giugiaro was presented at the Geneva Motor Show. For ten years, the Fiat Uno has been a bestseller in the European market. Unlike the first, the current generation of Fiat Uno is developed in Brazil in the design center at the Betima plant. Its appearance was created in favor of the fashion for modern cartoonish grotesque and has little in common with its predecessor. Engineers and designers set themselves the task of creating a medium-sized, but roomy car, with charisma, but for little money. Let's try to figure out whether they succeeded in this task.

The exterior of the Fiat Uno is developed in the design concept of a rounded square, this geometric figure is displayed in the stern, and it feels like all other lines and surfaces are coming out of it. Thanks to the faceted shape of the two-volume box, there is a large internal space, and the smooth lines of the rounding of the ribs make the Fiat Uno visually compact in appearance. In front of the car, Fiat Uno attracts attention by asymmetry, unconventional for auto design - accented slots of the false radiator grille are present only on one side of it. In the lower part, a huge air intake stands out, as for such a general scale.

The dimensions of the Fiat Uno are 3770 mm long, 1643 mm wide, 1490 mm high, from 165 mm ground clearance and 2370 mm wheelbase. Trunk volume - 280 liters.

The interior of Fiat Uno (2010-2011 model year) is designed in the European style of budget cars. The dashboard is not overloaded with buttons, the instrument panel looks spicy, the three-spoke steering wheel gives the impression of a comfortable grip. Internal dimensions can accommodate 5 passengers. The backrests of the rear seats are fixed in two tilt positions. Air conditioning, CD / MP3 radio, Bluetooth, active head restraints, a height-adjustable steering wheel and even a windshield defroster are standard. Additional equipment includes remote control of the trunk lid and parking sensors.

Speaking about technical characteristics, Fiat Uno 2010-2011 will be equipped with two variants of gasoline engines: 1.0-liter 73-horsepower and 1.4-liter 85-horsepower. It is worth noting that thanks to Flex technology, both engines, in addition to gasoline, can also run on alcohol (bioethanol), while their power even slightly increases (up to 75 and 88 hp, respectively). The gearbox is provided in one version - 5-speed mechanics.
The suspension follows the standard for all affordable budget cars - a MacPherson strut in front and a roll bar in the back.

Based on the technical content, one can guess that on the road during a test drive, the new Fiat Uno demonstrates the standard driving characteristics of affordable cars, and its operation demonstrates fuel efficiency.

Speaking of price - Fiat Uno in Brazil is planned to be sold in four basic versions: Uno Vivace 1.0 Flex, Uno Way (1.0 and 1.4) Flex and Uno Attractive 1.4 Flex. Uno Vivace - with an unpainted bumper and minimum trim level, the price starts at 15.5 thousand dollars. Uno Attractive looks more "rich" due to the use of covers / stickers / spoilers. Uno Way is a pseudo-crossover with a ground clearance increased to 180 mm and a plastic body kit around the perimeter of the car. In addition to the three main modifications, the Fiat Uno comes with several other customization packages. Thus, you can decorate your car with various car accessories, designer seat upholstery and choose the option of an unusual bright color of the body.
